These are my sprogs, I subject them to these annual photo shoots out in a meadow near by, they hate me for it at the time, but every Christmas I create an album with these shots presented in an album and in an instant the misery vanishes and as a perk, the following year they are ever so slightly more willing to play ball!

Some tips on getting great family portraits.
I like to shoot outside either at sun up or near sundown. While with indoor shoots I book for mid day to get as much light as possible. Speaking of indoor shoots, I use a good sized window and try to position my victims right beside it, catching the light on the side of the face. I avoid flash at all costs. The gods have produced a much nicer one in my mind. Family photography is all about catching the light on the right moment in the right way.
Well fed monsters mean they will play along. I always have a little treat which I promise at the end.
It really doesn’t matter what you talk about on the day, many of our shots were captured over conversations about unicorn farts…whatever does the trick. I try to get the kids to tell stories and then document them chit chatting.
Lens and kit?!
Honestly it doesn’t matter, it’s all down to light and catching a moment. Some of my favourite shots are actually right out of my iPhone.
